Welcome to Self Defence Paekakariki (SDPK)

Self Defence Paekakariki (SDPK) is based at a school in a small seaside village on the Kapiti Coast. We teach a martial art style named Combat Hapkido and although our New Zealand Head Office is based in Upper Hutt, we originate from the United States.

You may not hear our name as much as some of the more traditional martial art styles but we’ve been here in New Zealand since 1999. A team of Instructors and students will be heading to the United States in 2012 to represent New Zealand at the 20th anniversary of Combat Hapkido.

Combat Hapkido is also referred to as ‘the ultimate self defence system’ which is due to the realistic and versatile discipline of self protection. There are no fancy kicks and strikes because a self defence system does not require them.

We welcome all ages, sexes and occupations. You’re welcome whether you’re studying an existing martial art or you’re completely new to the arts.

If your questions aren’t answered on our site, please feel free to contact us.

Color Belt Test 05/12 - Paekakariki.......parking

Please follow the link to a map of Paekakariki. We currently have road works and traffic lights which are causing traffic delays and parking problems in the village. Please allow for this when planning for your testing.........those that turn up late will not test.

If the weather is bad at Testing we will be sharing Paekakariki School with the soccer community.

There will be minimal parking and you will have to park away from the venue and walk back.

If this is the case please drop your passengers and gear at the gate then park and come back.....venue doors will be open at 8.15am.

Good luck to all students grading on Saturday
